2017 First Annual New Southbound Professional Development Workshop

2017 First Annual New Southbound Professional Development Workshop

Having received funds from a 2017 New Southbound Ministry of Education grant entitled, “The Alliance of Academic Fields (Business Management and Social Sciences): the Asian Global Transformation,” the ASEAN and South Asia Research Center has organized the First Annual New Southbound Professional Development Workshop. Students from all CCU departments are invited. The workshop will begin on 2017/09/28, will meet every Thursday evening from 6-8pm in the College of Law’s 308 Conference Room, and will take the form of a book club.

This workshop focuses on the ten participant countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN): Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Philippines, Singapore, Burma, Brunei, and Laos. Readings and discussion will cover the economic history of these nations. We will invite Dr. Chi-Tsang Liang, who possesses both international academic credentials and concrete work experience, to facilitate discussion of each nation’s economy, culture, law, and politics and their history, state of industrial development, and future Southbound prospects and challenges. The workshop can accommodate up to 290 participants. It will deepen CCU college students’ understanding of ASEAN nations and train CCU college students to become Southbound nations researchers and mobile talent for future Southbound development.
